Sometimes the simplest ideas come from the most ordinary moments.
You walk into a room and forget why you went there.
You remember a birthday—two days late.
There's an appointment you were absolutely certain you wouldn't forget.
Then the phone rings, somebody needs something, the day gets busy, and suddenly that appointment is tomorrow morning.
That's life.
And that's where the idea for FroReminds came from.
I wasn't trying to invent another complicated piece of technology. In fact, I wanted almost the opposite.
I wanted something simple.
Tell it what you need to remember. Let it help you remember it.
That's FroReminds.
One Less Thing to Carry Around in Your Head
We carry a surprising amount of information around every day.
Doctor appointments. Birthdays. Anniversaries. Bills. Meetings. Renewals. Events. Things we need to do next Tuesday. Something important three months from now.
Most of the time, we remember.
Until we don't.
FroReminds is being built around a simple idea: technology should take a little pressure off people instead of adding more to their lives.
You shouldn't need an instruction manual to create a reminder.
You shouldn't have to navigate through a maze of screens.
And you shouldn't need to become a technology expert just to remember that you have a dentist appointment Thursday morning.
Create the reminder.
Go live your life.
When the time comes, FroReminds does its job.
Why Build Another Reminder Service?
That's a fair question.
There are already calendars. Phones have alarms. There are free reminder applications everywhere.
So why build FroReminds?
Because I've never believed that the existence of something means there isn't room to do it differently.
That's been part of the thinking behind FroCore from the beginning.
FroReminds isn't about trying to out-Google Google or replace every calendar on somebody's phone.
It's about building a small, focused service that does one important thing and tries to do it very well.
Help people remember.
No giant learning curve.
No unnecessary complexity.
Just something useful.
A Penny a Day
I also wanted FroReminds to be affordable.
The idea we've been working with is $3.65 a year.
That's 365 days.
Essentially a penny a day.
I've always liked that because it's easy to understand.
If FroReminds saves someone from missing one important appointment, forgetting one renewal, or realizing at 10 o'clock at night that today was somebody's birthday, that penny might have done a pretty good day's work.
Built to Work Quietly
One of my goals for FroReminds is that it shouldn't demand attention.
A good reminder system shouldn't become another thing you have to constantly manage.
Set your reminders.
Let the system handle them.
Come back when you need it.
That's why we're building FroReminds with automation at its core. The technology should be doing the repetitive work—not the person using it.
And, as with everything we build under FroCore, reliability matters.
A reminder isn't very useful if it arrives after the thing you're supposed to remember.
So as FroReminds gets closer to going live, testing reminder delivery will be one of the most important parts of finishing it.
Another Piece of FroCore
There's something else that makes FroReminds special to me.
It's another idea becoming real.
Not long ago, FroReminds was just a conversation and a domain name.
Now there's software behind it.
There's a design.
There's a plan.
And soon there will be a website people can actually use.
That's something I've experienced several times now while building FroCore.
An idea starts as a sentence.
The sentence becomes a sketch.
The sketch becomes code.
The code becomes a platform.
And eventually you type the address into a browser and realize:

What's Next?
FroReminds.com is the next FroCore platform we're preparing to bring to life.
We still have work to do.
We'll test it. We'll make sure reminders are dependable. We'll make sure it's easy to use. And we'll resist the temptation to turn a simple idea into something unnecessarily complicated.
Because FroReminds doesn't need to do everything.
It just needs to do something almost all of us could use a little help with.
Remember.
And maybe someday, somewhere, someone's phone will light up with a FroReminds notification at exactly the right moment.
They'll look at it and say:
"Oh yeah. I almost forgot."
If that happens, FroReminds did its job.
